We in AFGJI, take special efforts to identify children with special needs and prepare them for their future lives. True Guidance is like a small lamp in a dark forest. It doesn’t show everything at once, but gives enough light to take the next step. The Department of Psychology, Guidance & counseling works with the students who are underachievers, have special needs or face a difficulty in life. The Department adopts students who, for different, reasons, are not able to perform to their optimum. The counselor helps in identification, assessment diagnosis and management of such children, and provides on going support to both the parents and students. Aptitude testing of X standard every year not only help students to choose a suitable educational stream at +2 level but also suggests best suited professions also. Various orientation programmes for students and parents help them sail through the challenges and transitions, smoothly. With the proactive approach school now has a separate dedicated counselor for primary wing as we realize the importance of early intervention. The school intends to start a remedial teaching programme for slow learners. They will be identified causative factors examined, and appropriate measures to be adopted will be considered.
The social scene today is undergoing very radical changes. The changes are affecting all types of relationships – parent and children, teacher and students…… AFGJI believes in instilling proper attitudes and values in all these relationships. Special care is taken to address this issue with sound counseling, assembly speeches, discussions, workshops, to help students to overcome these issues. Students are made to realize the importance of taking responsibility for their actions. This is possible only with the co-operation of parents.
