Admission Policy
  • Children are normally registered for admission in the month of January for the next academic year.

  • The intake points for admissions are KG and class XI. Vacancies in all other classes are very few and in some cases none at all. These are filled as and when vacancies arise.

  • The minimum age for admission to KG is 4+ as on 1st April of the year of admission.

  • Admissions are made only after the students qualify the Entrance Test and Interview (If considered necessary) provided seats are also available.

  • The registration of student does not guarantee admission. Students who join the school are to produce transfer Certificates and mark sheets from their previous school. Registration for admission to class XI will be done within 10 days from the date of declaration of Class-X Board Examinations (CBSE) result. All students are allotted admission numbers. The number is to be quoted in all correspondence with the school.
Admission Policy Introduction Foundation of any successful educational institution lies on the effectiveness of the procedure for intake. It is, therefore, imperative that the admission process is fair, impartial and transparent.

AIM
The aim of this Directive is to lay down policies for admission of students to three Delhi based AF schools. Admission Procedure Under various categories
  • Admission of children of Serving Air Force Personnel.



    Under this category, admission will be considered for children of serving Air Force officers, airmen and NCs(E). Procedure begins with the submission of the prescribed application form by the parents/guardians at the CMC office. The form valued at Rs. 40/- will be common for Air Force Bal Bharti School (AFBBS), The Air Force School (TAFS) and Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute (AFGJI). The admission test will not be mandatory for classes upto VI for students who have passed the previous class exams from any recognised English Secondary School, while the students will be required to pass the test for admission to higher classes conducted by the respective schools. For admission to std XI, the stream allotment will be made purely on the basis of marks/grade obtained by the students in class X.   • Admission of Children of Permanent School Staff.

    Wards of permanent teaching and non teaching staff are eligible to get admission. Principal should conduct an admission test for these children and forward consolidated list of eligible students to CMC in Feb-Mar for admission. Necessary form is to be collected from CMC’s office and other criteria/guidelines laid down for wards of AF personnel remain unchanged.
  • Admission of children of Non Air Force Personnel.

    After meeting the admission requirement of AF personnel, if vacancies exist, wards of non AF Personnel will be considered for admission in the three Air Force schools. There will be an entrance test for admission to all classes except KG which will be based on the CBSE syllabus of previous class except class XI. For Admission to class XI, the steam allotment will be made purely on the basis of marks/grade obtained by the students in class X. The initial process of admission to KG class will commence with the advertisement in the leading newspapers during second week of Oct. The application forms will be issued on three previously fixed days in the succeeding week. The applications, completed in all respects, are required to be submitted at CMC’s office within two working days from the last day of issue of the form. The cost of form is Rs. 100/-. Interactive session for KG classes will begin from 02 Jan & will continue till 30 Jan. For class I to X and XII the number of vacancies expected can not be predicted well in advance. However, the paper advertisement can include provision for admissions to the above classes. But the advertisement must clearly state that the admission requests will be processed strictly subject to the availability of vacancies. The admission tests for the above classes where vacancies exist, will be conducted in the first week of April. Another admission test if required will be conducted in the first week of Jul. However, no admission will be granted after 31 Jul, except in the case of transferred parents from other states to Delhi. All NAF cases will be put up to Chairman BOG for his approval. Admission forms will be signed by the CMC. Children staying within eight km radius of the school be given first preference.   • Admission to Special Wing of AFGJI.

    Admission is given to wards of AF and NAF personnel. The minimum age requirement is 3 plus as on 30 Sep of the academic session under early intervention programme. Plain paper request will be accepted from parents. AF cases will be forwarded to Principal/Headmistress Special Wing for assessment to find out the suitability of admission in Special Wing. Candidates found fit will be issued with AF forms and the same will be put up to CMC for his approval. NAF cases will be put up to AOA for his approval. Approved cases only will be called for assessment. Candidates found fit will be issued with NAF forms and the same will be put up to CMC for his approval.

  • Admission under Eonomically Weaker Section Category.

    As per the order of Dte of Edn. Govt. of NCT Delhi, un-aided recognised public schools who have been allotted land by DDA at concessional rates will have to provide 20% seats to economically weaker sections of the society with 100% exemption of fees. AFBBS belongs to this category and TAFS & AFGJI are not affected as the land is on lease from the Ministry of Defence. Accordingly, 20% of the seats i.e., 35 seats will be reserved and kept vacant for EWS students in KG classes at AFBBS. The criteria to avail this free-ship is as under :

    1. Parents income should not be more than Rs. 4000/- per month for boy child and Rs 5000/- per month for girl child.

    2. Resident of Delhi for the last five years.

    3. Income proof certificate from SDM/Tahasildar or Food & Supplies officer, Govt of Delhi.

The cost for Application Form

The Cost for application form under EWS category is Rs. 20/-. The admission test and other procedures are as applicable to other NAF children. EWS children should pay transport charges, computer charges and annual charges. Complete tuition fee will be waived off. Admission will be generally considered for KG class . For other classes it would be subject to availability of vacancies.

Appendix ‘A’ : Admission Guidelines under AF Category
  1. Admission policy/priorities/criteria of Air Force personnel children seeking admission in AFBBS/TAFS/AFGJI will be as follows :-

    1. All admissions will be approved by the CMC.

    2. Admissions will commence from class KG/I. Age for KG is 4 + as on 31 March of the academic session and 5 + for class I and correspondingly higher for other classes.

    3. Every AF child will be admitted in the appropriate class, if the parent is posted at any unit in Delhi. However, allotment of school will be subject to availability of vacancy . The decision of the CMC will be binding & final on the subject.

    4. If there is no vacancy, parents will be requested to take admission in local KV/AF Schools for the current academic session and will be given priority in the next academic session.

    5. Five seats will be kept vacant in each class at the beginning of the year to cater to admissions of wards of those personnel who arrive during mid-session upto 31 Jul.

    6. No admission test will be administered upto Std VI.

    7. Admission test will be conducted from Std VIIth onwards based on the previous class of CBSE syllabus.

    8. A minimum 33% of marks are required to be obtained in the entrance tests for classes VII, VIII, IX, X & XII. Those who secure less than 33% marks will be given option for admission to a one class lower.

    9.  Wards of AF personnel posted to Hard Area/MFA & non family stations will be given admission on recommendation by their respective units.

    10. Local transfer from other schools (within Delhi) will be considered from 01 May to 31 Jul, subject to availability of vacancies as on a case to case basis (merit based).

    11. Admission process to classes KG & I will begin in Jan and for other classes as and when required basis depending on the availability of vacancies. An SRO entry will be given to this effect in November in local Air Force Stations.

    12. Registration-cum-application form will be given to admission seekers from CMC Sectt. The cost of the form is Rs.40/-. The same, after due verification, will be put up to CMC for his approval in the registers maintained for the same.

    13. Internal transfers will be considered case by case basis and only on the grounds such as Hostel accommodation, subject availability etc. All cases are to be put up to CMC for his approval.

    14. Admission to class XI is based on the marks obtained in class X board. The criteria to allot stream is based on the marks/grade obtained in std X. The criteria laid down for allotting different streams is as follows: -

      1. PCM with Computer Science: -
        65% and above in Eng, Maths & Sciences and a minimum of 60% Maths.

      2. PCM with Engg Drawing (TAFS only):- 65% and above in Eng, Maths & Science and a minimum of 55% in Maths.

      3. PCM with Biology :- 65% and above (Eng, Maths & Science) and a minimum of 50% in Maths.

      4. PCM with Economics /Bio-Tech (AFBBS only): - 60% and above in Eng, Maths & Science and a minimum of 50% in Maths.

      5. Commerce with Maths:- 55% and above in Eng, Maths & Science and a minimum of 50% in Maths.

      6. Commerce with out Maths: - 50% and above in Eng, Maths & Science and a minimum of 40% in Maths.

      7. Humanities:- Pass

  2. In case of exceptional sportsmen who are already students of AFBBS/TAFS/ AFGJI (AF & NAF category) , the admission criteria given at para 1 (r) will be waived upto 7 marks, provided :-

    1. The student reached semi final or above level of athletics in the national school athletics meet.

    2. The student represented AFBBS/TAFS/AFGJI at least thrice in the Subroto Mukherjee Football championship.

    3. The student represented AFBBS/TAFS/AFGJI in any team event and the team played atleast upto finals in a national level match.

    4. Existing school children & wards of AF personnel opting for Home Science/Painting/Physical Education in place of Maths in class XI, the minimum marks required in Maths can be reduced to 40%. The concession is given to only pure science & Commerce with-out Maths groups.

Appendix ‘B’ : Admission Guidelines under Non AF Category
  1. The priorities for admission to AFBBS/TAFS/AFGJI under NAF category is as under :-

    1. Children of superannuated AF personnel including NCs(E).

    2. Children of AF personnel including NCs(E) who have retired prematurely.

    3. Children of serving Army/Navy personnel and civilians paid out of defence estimates.

    4. Admission requests recommended by serving/retired AF personnel.

    5. Children of IAS/IPS/IFS/Central services/ Para Military, alumni of these schools and siblings already studying in our schools.

    6. PSU/Semi/Quasi Govts.

    7. Professionals.

    8. Pure civilians.

  2. Following are the admission procedure/policy/criteria laid down for Non Air Force children seeking admission in our Schools :-

    1. Admission Procedure for KG.
      The process of admission to KG class will commence with a paper advertisement in the second week of Oct. The application forms will be issued on three previously fixed days in the succeeding week. Applications complete in all respects will be required to be submitted at CMC’s office within two working days from the last day of issue of the form. Interactive session of KG class will begin from 02 Jan to 31 Jan. All candidates will be called for test/interview. Details of applications received , name of selected candidates & name of waiting list candidates will be put up to AOA for his approval. The composition of BOO for conducting interactive session may include the following :-

      1. Executive Director(s)

      2. Principal

      3. SO to AOA

      4. Headmistress

      5. Rep of D Edn, Air HQ (RKP)s

      6. An officer detailed by CMC.

    2. Admission Procedure for Class I to X and XII.
      Advertisement will be given for inviting applications. The advertisement will explicitly state that admissions will be granted strictly in accordance with the available vacancies (It has to be noted that vacancies have to be calculated after meeting the admission requirement of AF personnel). Test will be conducted initially in the first week of April. Children will be required to score a minimum of 33% marks in the written test for all classes to qualify for admission. For any standard, if the number of vacancies are less and more number of children have passed the exam, the children in the order of merit of total marks will be given admission to fill up the vacancies. However, all children who score 60% and above marks will be kept in a waiting list as per the order of merit. This waiting list also will be displayed at the time of declaration of result. Later, as and when any vacancy arises, the students in the waiting list will be given admission as per the order of merit subject to admission rules of Delhi Govt. If more than one student secures the same total marks the under mentioned criteria will be followed: -

      1. Whoever has scored higher in the subject as shown in the order given below will be placed higher in the merit list: -
        English        Maths         Science         Hindi

      2. If all parameters are similar the names will be arranged serially in alphabetical order of their first names.

      3. If vacancies still exist, another test will be conducted in the first week of July. All applications which had been received and registered after the previous test will be considered for the written test. There will not be any admissions after 31 Jul as laid by the Dte of Edn, Govt of NCT, Delhi. All cases will be put up to Chairman BOG for his approval. Tested and cleared candidates will be issued with admission forms and the same will be approved by CMC.

    3. Admission Procedure to Std XI.
      Admission to class XI is based on the marks obtained in class X board. Parents have to submit plain paper request with internet copy/board mark list to CMC. Admission will be approved by the CMC to students of class XI after the publication of board results. Details of admission given will be put up to Chairman BOG (AOA) for ex-facto sanction. The criteria to allot stream is based on the marks/grade obtained in std X. The laid down criteria for allotting different stream is as follows :-

      1. PCM with Computer Science: - 80% and above in Eng, Maths & Science and a minimum of 70% in Maths.

      2. PCM with Engg Drawing (TAFS only): - 75% and above in Eng, Maths & Science and a minimum of 65% in Maths

      3.  PCM with Biology: - 75% and above in Eng, Maths & Science and a minimum of 60% in Maths.

      4. PCM with Economics/Bio Tech (AFBBS only): - 70% and above in Eng, Maths & Science and a minimum of 55% in Maths

      5. Commerce with Maths: - 65% and above in Eng, Maths, Science & social science and a minimum of 55% in Maths.

      6. Commerce with out Maths: - 60% and above in Eng, Maths, Science & social science and a minimum of 50% in Maths.

      7. Humanities: - Pass.

    4. Other common Rules applicable to NAF candidates

      1. All NAF admissions will be approved by Chairman BOG (AOA).

      2. All application forms will be signed by CMC.

      3. Age for KG is 4 + as on 31 March of the academic session. 5 yrs + for class I and correspondingly for other classes.

      4. Only those candidates residing within 8 km radius from the school seeking admission will be considered for admission. If less applications received from areas within a radius of 8 kms , then the km will be extended to a maximum 12 Km.

      5. The cost of registration-cum-admission form is Rs. 100/-. This form will be issued to those parents who respond to our paper advertisement.

      6. There will be an admission test/interactive session for all NAF candidates, except class XI. Admission will be made strictly on the basis of merit & availability of seats in a class. However, a minimum of 33% marks is to be obtained in the entrance test for admission.

      7. Parents who come on transfer after the common entrance test will have to submit plain application for registration. Children whose cases are approved by the AOA will only be called for written test/interview. Children who pass the entrance test will be issued with the registration-cum-application form. Filled up application form will be put up to CMC for approval.

      8. All cases of NAF candidates will be put up to the AOA for his approval, subject to availability of vacancies.

      9. AFBBS hostel is available to Girl students studying at AFBBS only. Priority will be given to wards of AF personnel. If vacancy is available, NAF children will be considered. CMC will approve accommodation of NAF Children based on the recommendation of Executive Director.

      10. AFGJI hostel is presently under AFWWA (C) & male students studying at AFGJI are to be given accommodation in this Hostel. Parents should directed to approach Manager AFWWA Hostels for accommodation.

      11. Internal transfers will be considered case by case basis and only on the grounds such as Hostel accommodation, subject availability etc. All cases are to be put up to CMC for his approval.
