# PROFILE

Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute, situated at Subroto Park, Delhi Cantonment is one of the leading public schools run by Indian Air Force Educational and Cultural Society. Initially in the year 1985, it started as a school only for the mentally retarded children but subsequently it was felt that an integrated Institution was a better option, which would provide the mentally handicapped children, an opportunity of receiving education in the atmosphere of a normal school. This double pronged concept served the purpose of inculcating values of compassion, harmony, comradeship among the students and also created an opportunity for education to the children with special needs and successfully gave shape to the unique idea of imparting education to the intellectually deprived in an integrated school alongwith the mainstream of normal children. The school has been imparting integrated education, since the year 1986.

"The School has a Vision of providing “ Better To-morrow” for our children by giving them better education, which will equip them fully to face challenges of life in the field of Academics Sports, Art and Cultural activities with vocational and Professional competence."

How do we realise our Mission

At present an integrated group of about 2200 students and 120 students with mental and other disabilities, receive education with multi disciplinary approach for their all round development.

The three wings are spread over about 8 acres of land in Subroto Park New Delhi The school is recognized by Delhi Administration and affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education .

The Institute consists of: -
(i) Primary Wing for students from KG to class V
(ii) Senior Wing from class VI to XII and
(iii) Special Wing for the special children

The school functions under the Principal as the Academic & Administrative Head and is assisted by the Vice Principal, Headmistress of Primary Wing , Headmaster of Special Wing and other staff.

SPECIAL WING

Aim & Objective:

(a) To provide integrated education to the Special Children so that they can be mainstreamed with normal children which helps to rehabilitate them in the society.
(b) The Institute has training programme for special children in IQ range from 30-35 to 70-75. Mental Retardation refers to sub normal intellectual functioning. The causes of mental retardation may occur at prenatal, at the time of birth, or at post natal stage due to certain genetic causes, ignorance, lack of care during pregnancy, or mishandling, wrong medication or an accident because of which the intellectual development gets retarded. For the purpose of dividing them into various groups they are broadly categorized under three heading ie:-

Educable	Mildly retarded 55-69
Trainable	Moderately retarded 40-54
Severely	Mentally retarded 25-39
